Visit The National Portrait Gallery This Summer
One stop you have to make now that things are opening up again is The National Portrait Gallery. Even if you’re not necessarily an art lover, everyone can find value and inspiration in a visit to this iconic American museum. Lining the walls you’ll find impeccably painted portraits, intricately crafted sculptures, and idyllic photographs of some of the most important individuals in our country’s history.
There are different exhibitions like The Struggle for Justice which features civil rights leaders like Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Cesar Chavez. Or you can visit the 20th Century Americans exhibition which offers art capturing individuals from Albert Einstein to LL Cool J, covering science to pop culture and everything in between. One of the most popular exhibits is of course, America’s Presidents. It is actually the only complete collection of portraits of each president outside the White House itself.
